Financial services giant Visa is looking to activate football fans for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with a non-fiscal token (NFT) initiative. FIFA’s payment partner has teamed up with the governing body’s crypto sponsor to celebrate the most popular sport, art and technology on the planet.

FIFA’s official payment technology partner Visa, football’s governing body, has announced the launch of a series of unique digital collectibles featuring the goals of five legendary footballers. Visa Masters of Movement NFTs are now available on Crypto.com, FIFA’s official crypto trading platform sponsor.

The auction was held this year before the 2022 World Cup, which will be held from November 20 to December 18. The experience will take place at an interactive platform at the FIFA Fan Festival in Doha later this month, where fans will be offered the chance to create digital art inspired by their signature moves and have it printed on their NFT, according to a press release. .

Commenting on the initiative, Visa Senior Vice President and Head of Sponsorship Andrea Fairchild said:

As the FIFA World Cup 2022 approaches, we want to celebrate football, art and technology through the lens of what makes the FIFA World Cup so special — passionate fans, legendary athletes and the opportunity to bring the world together for a few short weeks. unique way of communication.

The project includes five artworks inspired by goals scored by Jared Borghetti, Tim Cahill, Carli Lloyd, Michael Owen and Maxi Rodriguez and released as NFTs. Fans can bid on Visa Masters of Movement NFTs on Crypto.com until November 8th.

“The FIFA World Cup is one of the most anticipated sporting events in the world, and we are thrilled to give fans a new way to participate in this epic event,” added Stephen Kalifowitz, Chief Marketing Officer at Crypto.com. He noted that tokens created and collected by fans will live on the blockchain forever.

The highest bidders for each NFT will receive a token in their Crypto.com wallet, as well as autographed memorabilia from the featured legendary player. Visa also announced that all proceeds from the auction will go to Street Child United, a UK-based charity that fights the stigma faced by street children around the world.
