
Beyoncé was there for Meghan Markle.
In the second volume of Harry and Meghanwhich hit Netflix on Thursday, the Duchess of Sussex, 41, was touched when the music star, 41, contacted her a day after her interview with Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey aired in March 2021.
In episode six, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex worked side-by-side in their sunny home office in Montecito, California, when Meghan said, “Beyoncé has sent a text message” to Prince Harry, 38, in shock.
“Just come in,” Meghan said with a smile to the message. “I still can’t believe he knows who I am!”
“Go call him,” Harry suggested. “No, it’s fine,” his wife replied. “He said he wants me to feel safe and protected. He admires and respects my bravery and my weaknesses and thinks I was chosen to break generational curses that need to be healed.”
“Well said,” Prince Harry replied, as the camera panned away.
During a wide-ranging conversation with Oprah, aired by CBS, the California couple talked about the loss of police protection, rising tensions between the royal family, and the gender of their baby on the way (daughter Lilibet would be born that June. ) Perhaps in In the most frightening moments of the interview, Meghan revealed that she experienced suicidal thoughts and that within the royal family, there was “concern and talk about the darkness. [their child’s] skin can be when he is born.”
Almost immediately after Oprah and Meghan and Harry: A primetime CBS special aired, the 28-time Grammy winner posted a tribute to the Duchess of Sussex on her website.
“Thank you Meghan for your courage and leadership,” Beyoncé wrote alongside a photo of the couple at the UK premiere. The Lion King almost two years before. “We are all strengthened and encouraged by you.”
Meghan and Beyoncé appeared to be at odds when they met in July 2019 at the London premiere of a live adaptation of The Lion King, where the “Single Ladies” singer voiced Nala. “My daughter,” Beyoncé was seen saying, as she leaned in for a hug from Meghan.

Observers said that there was a “familiarity” between the two women, so much so that many had a hard time believing this was their first time meeting. Their husbands Prince Harry and JAY-Z soon joined the conversation, where the conversation quickly turned to their children.
“The best advice I can give you, always find your time,” JAY-Z, 53, told the Sussexes, who recently welcomed son Archie Harrison, who is now 3 and a half years old.
