Matthew Perry on the challenges of finding true love when you’re filthy rich

Matthew Perry revealed that personal wealth is one of the most important assets he looks for in a romantic partner.

The 53-year-old actor told People magazine that after several of his relationships failed because the women he was dating were only interested in his money, he decided to find love with a woman who has his wealth.

“The next person I take seriously is a person with whom I will be in love and not be afraid of things that used to scare me … someone who is independent. In every way, but especially financially, because I got burned a few times by women who wanted my money , without really caring about me,” he explained.

When asked about any deal breakers for the engagement, Perry doubled down on her faith. “People I’m starting to think are in it for the money. And it happens more often than you think. Someone who has their own property is an important part of me.”

MATHAYO PERRY OPENS UP ABOUT WHY HE HAS NEVER FIND LOVE AND WHY HE WILL ONLY DEAL WITH RICH WOMEN.

Beverly Hills-based matchmaker and dating expert Alessandra Conti told Fox News Digital that Perry’s fear of hooking up with women who may not have the best intentions is common among celebrities and high-powered men who seek her services.

He explained that most of his clients hire him not only to get love, but also mainly to get rid of any women who may want them for their money only.

“I also like that he uses the phrase ‘help himself,'” Conti added of Perry. “Men who are at the top of their profession, which usually, of course, comes with financial wealth, want a woman who is complementary. A woman who brings femininity and care and warmth and passion into their lives.”

Conti explained that for sure, a celebrity’s spouse will come from a certain level of wealth. “So he’s not really shocked and frustrated by the lifestyle or kind of completely put off or surprised by it,” he said.

“But I like to compare public figures with unfounded people,” he added. “Men and women of standing who live a full life and who have love beyond a relationship, even if they are a kindergarten teacher. It doesn’t matter what the job is, but where are the morals?”

George Clooney, who was once considered a bachelor in life, met his wife Amal Alamuddin, an international human rights lawyer who built success in representing famous clients, including Julian Assange and the former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko.

The two bonded over their commitment to defending human rights around the world and co-founded the Clooney Foundation for Justice in 2016.

Conti said that in addition to using matchmaking companies like hers, celebrities often meet successful and wealthy partners through volunteer work or by attending high-profile events and parties.

Miranda Kerr was first introduced to billionaire Snap CEO Evan Spiegel at a 2014 Louis Vuitton event in New York City. The two have been married since 2017 and have two sons.

In addition to Hayek and Kerr, some female celebrities, including Janet Jackson, Elle MacPherson and Mariah Carey, have dated or married billionaires. Conti shared his insight into why famous women may be more likely than their male counterparts to choose super-rich partners.

“I think the most famous female celebrities tend to be more attracted to men who come from a good financial situation because there is often a strong provider, a protector provider, which is very attractive to a woman, even quote. don’t quote an alpha female or even a woman who is a celebrity or a famous person,” he said.

“A lot of times when they’re in their day jobs, they’re in their business, they’re the leader. But when they’re in their romantic partnership, they want to use their femininity.”

In recent years, many celebrities have turned to dating apps to find relationships. Raya, an exclusive members-only dating app for celebrities and influencers, is popular with stars looking for romance and partners who have also reached a certain level of wealth, status and fame.

Drew Barrymore, Channing Tatum, Demi Lovato, Kiernan Shipka and Olivia Rodrigo are among the stars who tried to find romance on Raya.

In a 2020 appearance on “Watch Live with Andy Cohen,” Barrymore said swiping through Raya was like “flipping through Us Weekly”.

“I did very badly. I stood up, and I didn’t match anyone,” admitted Cohen, who is a Raya user himself.

The short-lived romance of “Real Housewives of Orange County” Meghan King and President Joe Biden’s nephew Cuffe Biden Owens began after they met on the show in September 2021. The two tied the knot three weeks later but split after two months of marriage. . .

Regardless of how they meet, Conti told Fox News Digital that he believes celebrities like Perry put strong morals ahead of financial considerations when it comes to dating.

“I know what Matthew is talking about, and I think it’s a bit of a misnomer to look for, quote, a rich woman,” he said. “So what I’ve found is that women who have successful marriages and partnerships with successful men, are not necessarily billionaires, but they have a strong value system that is rooted in family.”

He continued, “It’s rooted in relationships, in friendships and experiences. So that’s where he needs to prioritize. He needs to prioritize meeting women who aren’t necessarily financially motivated. That’s exactly what I think he’s trying to convey.”
