The alarm clocks in Kim Kardashian’s house sound a little different during the holidays.
The reality star’s four children with ex Kanye West – North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm – wake up to Christmas carols played live by Grammy-winning pianist Philip Cornish.
“It’s that time of year,” Kardashian, 42, captioned a video shared via her Instagram Story on Thursday.
“@Philthekeys comes every morning to wake my children up by playing the piano while the morning fast is taking place to soothe their souls and fill it with beautiful Christmas carols,” he continued.
In the short clip, Cornish sat at an all-white piano playing a festive tune next to a sparkling Christmas tree as North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3, could be heard squealing in the background.
Another video showed the reality star’s young son curled up under a blanket on the couch as he listened to holiday tunes.
While Kardashian claims the sophomore tradition helps her kids “calm down” before school, many social media users called the decision “out of touch.”
“Okay, not cool. Kim Kardashian pays someone to play the piano to wake up her kids in the morning. What’s wrong with just saying come on guys?!,” one person tweeted.
“I guess rich people don’t use spotify,” another person commented, on a screenshot posted by celebrity news blogger Amanda Hirsch on Instagram.
“And this is why she needs 200k/month in child support. 😂,” a third person joked about Kardashian and West’s big baby deal.
“Why do I feel like North doesn’t even like this and wakes up and makes a face or makes fun of it lol,” another user said of Kardashian and West’s oldest child.
Meanwhile, some critics on social media claimed that the “Kardashians” star was only posting these clips to try to “distract” from Balenciaga’s recent backlash, with one writing, “Look there….I didn’t condemn the bad behavior against children. !”
Kardashian was criticized last week for waiting days to speak out against the fashion house after it used disturbing images of babies with BDSM teddy bears in an ad campaign.
“As a mother of four children, I have been shaken by these disturbing images. The safety of children must be taken seriously and any attempts to justify child abuse of any kind have no place in our society – period,” he said. he wrote on Twitter Sunday, adding that he was “disgusted and outraged” by the campaign.
After announcing he was “re-evaluating” his relationship with the brand, the Skims founder turned down their offer to star in the upcoming 2023 campaign.
In fact, it appears the reality star – who has posed for several of their campaigns and walked in their show – has ditched Balenciaga for upcoming events and has seemingly cut ties with the brand, according to TMZ.
The Spanish fashion house has apologized twice and deleted all problematic ads from the official website. They also filed a $25 million lawsuit against a “third party” who created the images for “reckless negligence.”
