Determined to create a society where youths are independent with relevant skills, the Dr Rhoda Makinde Initiative (DROMI) school of entrepreneurship has graduated 304 youths in various skill areas in Ondo State.
At the graduation ceremony held in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West local government area of the state at the weekend, the beneficiaries were exposed to acquisition of practical skills which is relevant and important in the society under full scholarship scheme for one year.
Speaking, the owner and CEO of DROMI, Dr. Rhoda Makinde while congratulating the graduating students, noted that the importance of skills acquisition cannot be overemphasized in any society.
She explained that the idea of graduates and young people struggling to get non-existent white collar jobs is over, and called on them to use all the skills they have acquired to improve their livelihood and the development of society.
The owner said that the institution was founded with scholarships to offer young people the opportunity to learn and develop skills that will be needed to provide solutions to society’s problems and make them financially independent.
She said, “young people should understand that degrees are not enough to become self-reliant in our society today, you need skills.”
The husband of the Chief Executive and member of the House of Representatives representing Ondo West/East constituency, Dr. Abiola Makinde addressed the graduates on business management and strategy to succeed as they prepare to face the world with their respective skills learned in the institution.
